Handmade valentines gift ideasThe most loved and (hated by some) day of the year is fast approaching. I like Valentines day as I am a romantic and I’m not talking roses, rings and chocolates – although a heart shaped box of anything does make me smile – I see it as an excuse to make gifts for friends and loved ones. A day set aside for love, for everyone, a bit like thanksgiving day but with more pink, so ignore the commercial side and use it as an excuse to hand craft things for the people you love. I’ve gathered up a few of my favourite crafty Valentine finds from all over for some inspiration xHandmade valentines gift ideasAbove  - Jar of hearts – Moorea Seal, Print a paper airplane love note – Country Living, Floral Printable love cards – Camille Styles, Carve a candle – Henry Happened, Love note in a nutshell  - Pinterest.

Top – Dipped pink wafers – Family Fresh Meals, Eraser heart stamp – Cotton and Flax, layered collage card – Tara Anderson,  Heart Felt Headband – Katie Did, Feather arrows - Eduard Bonnin.

Gossip Girl Fashion StyleMy confession to a recent obsession. It started last year – having never seen Gossip Girl it on scheduled TV (we don’t have a television anymore), it was a chilly day, I had the flu and was tucked up on the sofa with the cats and my laptop, desperately looking for something to take my mind off of a throbbing head and sore throat. At the age of almost 36 you might wonder what on earth I was doing pitching up a camp and settling in to a drama based on the evil rumour spreading of American high school girls. But one look at Blair Waldorf’s outfits and the outrageous behaviour of the characters and I was hooked. Gossip Girl Fashion StyleAs much as the storyline is ridiculous – the wardrobe department is enviable. I watched it all, right to the very end, losing whole days of my life that I will never get back. A flurry of Alice bands, beautiful loosely curled locks, colour splashes and couture that should not be available to the under 20′s. But Blair’s outfits brightened my days and made me want colour in my wardrobe again.Gossip Girl Fashion StyleThat’s it. All over now, lets never speak of it again, unless it’s in the comments section to share your embarrassing TV secrets?! x Gossip Girl Fashion Style

Capsule wardrobe inspirationMy capsule wardrobe basics quest has picked up again this week with another old faithful, the best Tan Handbag. I have been obsessing so much about interiors and decorating since we moved here that my wardrobe has gone to seed! My daily uniform of paint splashed leggings and oversized T-shirt has become very uninspiring indeed. When I do venture outside I have been sticking to classic grey sweaters though, I picked up two from Gap and a sale bargain from Principles that is semi casual but flattering. I edited out all other colours apart from one black mohair number that is such a fluffy delight it has to stay! Capsule wardrobe inspirationSo I guess my capsule wardrobe at this stage is more about finding the things I always come back to. selecting the best, then paring down. This weeks discoveries – my go-to bag is always tan – it has to be leather (there is one canvas one in my selection as I thought it had great shape and style) – smart, slouchy or clutch. As with grey, I find tan goes with everything – has more character than black and can be dressed up or down. I have one from Mimi Berry that is really simple with a turquoise silk inside that always puts a smile on my friends faces when they catch a glimpse of it, one Edina Ronay that was picked up in TK Maxx (it’s now battered but I love its well travelled markings), one from Massimo Dutti a couple of years ago that has gold studs around the edges barely visible but a nice surprise, and the Accessorize one featured below.Wardrobe basics leather totesHere are some lovely finds if you are also looking for a great tan bag.
