Happy Monday to you, my day started with an hour of pilates, I am a little rusty to say the least but at least the intent was there. Then a trip back to town and home to finish those inspiration binders so I can get them off our living room table. Hopefully making room for mugs of hot chocolate and a plate piled high with honey on toast.
I am wondering if any of you made a little pledge to yourself to try and find more time to be creative this year? I know I did, and once all the sorting out and organising is done around here, I will be happily stitching my way through a ton of vintage sequins and lace. So if you too have decided to make more dates with your sewing kit in 2011, I have these pretty corsage pin keepers to giveaway to three lucky readers, all you do is have to leave a comment telling me about the next project you have planned.
Everyone no matter where in the world you are is welcome to comment, and I will announce the three randomly selected winners on Sunday.
Good luck and happy making!
these are so lovely! my next project is a fisherman’s sweater for the husband. I’ve been promising him one for ages and I have the yarn now it’s a matter of drafting the pattern!
a lovely linen apron i’ve drawn on the back of an envelope that i can wear when i deliver worshops using some of my own handmade porcelain buttons and free sewing embroidery. i hope it’s as good as i imagine it could be
These are beautiful.
I am planning on making some green and pink bunting, which I haven’t done before.
I have so many projects in mind but next on the list are bags for my mum- in-law’s knitting – much better than a carrier bag, for a friend’s books so she doesn’t loose them and for my daughter’s syringe driver, which she has to wear all the time. What fun!
Wow, those pin cushions are amazing. I love the stripy ones!
My next project is to make a dress or a blouse. I’ve not really sewn any garments for the past 4 years and I’d like to get back into it. I’ve bought some beautiful liberty tana lawn, I just need to find the time…
Ooh! How sweet! I am in the VERY fortunate position of being on a year’s sabbatical from my teaching job and one of the main reasons I wanted this year off was to find time to reconnect with my creative side. To that end, I have taken a weekend millinery course in London and, this Thursday I begin a three-month millinery course at a local college. I am so excited! I learned that my great-grandmother was a milliner in Bristol before she came to Canada and I love the sense of connection to her that my newfound love of millinery gives me.
I have also been doing lots of sewing projects around the house and will be tackling making some pretty frocks using my vintage sewing patterns from the 1950s and the lovely dress form my husband bought me for Christmas– I’ve always wanted one and I hope it improves my ability to fit clothes properly!
I am grateful every day for this time to spend making things. It feeds my soul in a way that nothing else can and I am profoundly content and feel insanely lucky to be able to spend so much time doing something I love. Of course, I look to your beautiful blog for inspiration as I go along, too!
Over the weekend, I broke out my colored pencils and sketched drawing after drawing of little french school girls in capes and berets. It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing something more with them in the coming days. Maybe paint a background for them to rest on?
Love these corsage pin keepers…especially that red one! So cheery.
Hello, my project is to keep a record of 2011 in my doodling book. I bought a sketch book and some fine point pens over the holidays. I wanted to log my daily life in a more time consuming way. If I end up with any pretty pages, I may color them and get them framed in some vintage frames!
Thanks for the thought! I think I’ll make some hot chocolate and toast now
My next project is to finish a patchwork rug and then to make some yoga (pilates!) mat bags for me and a friend.
how cute are these? yes, i am trying to take more time to create this year…especially with my camera…your photos are always so lovely…
xo
Hi there i love these corsage pins. so much….
My next project is to make a cross-stitch for Easter! Actually I think that I should start doing it… soon! Like tomorrow!!!
DEBBIE MOSS
My next project is to place patches upon a hoodie my friend gave me that has a a great cut, but hideous printing, and is too thin. I don’t know what I am going to patch it with because it is black, so I think I am in for some serious contrast. This is an ambitious project, due to the avant-garde nature of applying patches to where they otherwise would not belong, but I am up for challenge! Your pin keepers are lovely, your work is always a pleasure to behold.
i’ve tried making a goal with being more creative, right now i’m just trying to take part in the 365 photo project but once my mansy is done building his engine for his vw bus in our living room i’m going to tackle sewing… i work in coffee and have access to burlap sacks from our roasters and i really want to make some rucksacks + containers for our home. i enjoy your blog posts and photos, especially of the pastries + your home, it looks so warm, cozy and inviting!
I love your hearts – so pretty for Valentine’s day! My next project is a hand made travel journal for my trip to France in July. I will make it with all the left over scraps of paper and ribbon and envelopes and tags from Xmas and old projects.
These are really cute! I posted something about you! Hope you don’t mind! I adore your stylish way to do and to be!

These are so pretty, so lovely x
Well I bought a rather large amount of porcelain paper clay a few months ago that has been sat threateningly in my studio, it needs working and firing maybe I should start with that……but….Ive also got a printing project on the go….oh dear to much ha ha
Hugs Lynn x
My next project is to print the contents of my kitchen cupboards.
Actually, the above is a Posterous page, not a Web site, but it’s the closest I have to one. My project (already under way) is to take clothes I’ve cast aside for some reason or another and make them wearable, but not like-a-bag-lady wearable. I began with a classic denim jacket with ghastly floral embroidery on the collar (when did I ever think THAT was a good idea?). Tweezing out the embroidery I realized was a bad idea, so I removed the collar and cuffs and am “lining” the neck and sleeve edges with cut-on-the-bias strips of colorful striped cotton. Probably will stitch on the outside in a contrasting color thread. Frankly feeling rather smug halfway through this part of the project.
Yay to pilates good women x x
I think intention is half the battle with these things! And honey on toast, yum.
My 2011 creative project is to make some new cushion covers with Liberty fabric I picked up in the sale.
I am always trying to find more ways to make time to be creative, its a very good wish to make! I am planning on finishing many of the projects I have started…!
ooh these are neat! my next project is to sew an apron for my sister!
2011 projects include: painting the livingroom/diningroom. painting kitchen. repaint the wooden curtain rods in livingroom. try and figure out how to do a cool project I saw in a book regarding an old lace table cloth/plaster/canvas…this should be interesting….
it has been foggy and cold for quite a while here. we had a 3 day weekend Sacramento seemed to be the only place fogged in in the whole state of California. depressing. and so of course today is sunny and nice and I am stuck in the office — ugh.
love you projects and your blog!
ohhh honey on toast, yummy! i have pledged to wrap up my blog design and get going with it already. i’m also pushing myself to create a few gratitude journals for the shop. thank you for being a constant inspiration. oxo
These are lovely and just the thing I need to make me feel pretty and spiffed up while sewing and crafting!! My next project is some lovely little nightgowns for my two favorite mouselings, aged 4 and 2. I found a darling pattern for them and there’s just something old fashioned and charming about them. It is top secret of course….but my girls will be thrilled. I’m also hunting for the perfect knitting pattern for a little ballet wrap sweater for my budding prima ballerina….any ideas?
jeska! i absolutely love your blog/new site. i’ve been reading you for quite some time now and have to say, i’ve been wholly inspired by your style and method of creating. on the horizon, i aim to create and illustrate more custom-designed return address/initial/sweet sayings rubber stamps. creating and posting on my own blog is a big to-do in 2011. thank you so much!
cheers from chicago,
jilly
These are so cute, let’s try
Me too I need to start again on my daily yoga, I’ve neglected it far too long and now I feel it in my body
Last year, I snapped photos to document my days. This year, I am doing sketches. My main aim is to improve my drawing skills but I also want to use my sketches as a journal. I am trying to follow Carla Sonheim’s drawing lab book, a lab a week. I love your blog and especially record the day. You must have an incredible library of magazines!
These are so lovely!
My next project is to make a paper garland for my new room.
I will plan to use Origami and masking tape.
I love your interior styling!
These are fabulous!
I was married in July and Husband and I recently moved into our first apartment. I have been decorating like crazy (with your lovely style as inspiration!) Everything is pulling together nicely except for our dingy old couch, which looks really out of place. So I am on the hunt for the perfect fabric to make a cover out of. After that, lots of pillows!!
My daughters and I plan to sew some pillows for our homeschool home ec. class at home. After that we hope to learn to sew a quilt.

I am currently knitting myself a new hot water bottle cover x
I love these! especially the stripey one in the big image. You’ve definately got an eye for design! I’m currently stuck knitting a football scarf for my partner, totally uninspiring, and laborious, but I promised so knit it I must!……after that however, I’m sewing lots of brightly coloured felt hearts and stars for next years Christmas tree…. well you can never start too early
I just received my own sewing machine for Christmas this year and I plan on starting with small tablecloth for my apartment and then maybe moving on to some curtains. I’m looking forward to getting creative with my new toy and I love the inspiration I get from your site!
Jeska these are exquisite! My next project is a small pouch for a friend’s birthday made from embroidered French linen, lined with a pretty print from French General and finished with a vintage button. I hope she likes it.
These are beautiful.
I want to sew doll purple horse. I already know how to do it, but I have two small children who just can not help me but rather the contrary.
Sorry for the language translation through google …
Wow, so many amazing projects! I love your new blog by the way.
My next project, well the list is endless & I’m not sure where to start. I have just started a blog of my own. I’m hoping this will help me be more creative. I’ve saved all of my children’s pyjamas & night dresses. I plan to turn them into patchwork quilts. The task fills me with fear though, so I think I may get the knitting needles out & create a knitted tea cosy or scarf with maybe some applique, lace, ribbons, etc
Oh help, maybe I’ll turn to baking in my panic and bake another chocolate cake!
Loving the new blog and coming out of the woodwork after skulking round for some time…..it’s really inspirational by the way!
Also trying to be more creative this year, or should I say more productive as I’m a timewaster! With that in mind my next project is embroidering a pair of matching tops for my children with an Easter theme – just found some fantastic yellow/white stripey fabric in the local charity shop and am thinking one rabbit (daughter) and one chick (teeny son). I have them perfectly pictured in my mind, I think my efforts will be somewhat wonkier/have threads hanging off/will never be able to be washed for fear of unravelling!!
They are so beautiful – clever lady – can we do a work shop?!
p.s i’m making personalised cushions for kiddies and am definitely trying to make more time for sewing and making pretty things this year
